Janet England FBDO CL: Practice Manager
Janet England FBDO CL, is our practice manager and dispensing optician. She started her career in optics as a receptionist and has undertaken training to qualify as a registered dispensing optician, entering the register in 1996. She has also acquired a specialist contact lens qualification and is listed in the register as having a contact lens specialism. As well as her managerial duties Janet does most of our spectacle dispensing.
Ruth Ritchie: Optometrist
Ruth Ritchie BSc (Hons) MC Optom studied at Cardiff University and graduated in 2000. She has worked in both multiple and independent practices since then, providing a wide range of experience in both eye examinations and contact lens care. Her approach is very patient led with a clinical focus, and she is very experienced in examining children and patients with additional needs.
Nicole Hakim: Optometrist
Nicole Hakim BSc (Hons) MC Optom graduated with an honours degree in Optometry from UMIST, Manchester in 1993. With over 25 years working in both the independent optical field and larger multiple chains, her experience spans across all aspects of optometry including cataract, age related macular degeneration, glaucoma, paediatrics and early detection of eye diseases with latest techniques such as OCT.
Andrea Beard: Senior Optical Assistant
Andrea Beard is our senior Optical Assistant. She currently works part time supporting Janet with dispensing and administrative tasks. Andrea has several years of experience in other practices as receptionist and optical assistant. She has also some experience in working in the manufacturing sector of optics. She has been a staff member since 2009. Andrea achieved her Diploma in Optical Retailing from the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers in 2013.
